RENTAL APPLICATION TIPS When you fill out an application, remember that you want to give the best impression possible. If it’s messy, scribbled on and incomplete, a Landlord may be concerned about how well you will take care of his property. Prepare yourself with all the information you will need before beginning to fill out the application. Identity – Be prepared to provide personal information including, but not limited to, your full legal name, birth date, social security number and marital status. This information will allow the Landlord to verify your identity References – These should be people who are close to you and who will be able to reach you as well as give you a good reference. Vehicles – Listing all vehicles that will be parked on the property may save you from having one towed as an unauthorized vehicle. Authorization – Be sure to read this section. It will let you know what the Landlord will be verifying and checking. Besides a basic reference and employment verification, there will be a credit check and criminal background check. Remember to write neatly, be honest and answer everything completely. An application that has been filled out correctly and completely makes a good impression.
